About Me

After growing up on a small organic farm, I have since lived in Michigan, St. Louis, and, now, the metro DC area. My partner and I, and our two dogs, live in Virginia where we write, spend time outside, and eat as much good food as possible.

My poetry has won an American Academy of Poets Prize and has been published in Diagram, Zyzzyva, Phoebe, and Ninth Letter, among others. I am currently working on my first manuscripts, one poetry and one nonfiction, for publication. I have also taught creative writing and English composition at the University of Michigan and with the InsideOut Literary Arts Project in Detroit.

I attended The Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan for my master’s degree in creative writing. During my final year, as a Zell Post-graduate fellow, I established and managed the Jane Kenyon Chapbook Prize for UM undergraduates. I’m available for writing, editing, and organizing work. Complete resume available on request.
